New York Yankees clinch spot in the Playoffs

Remember back in April? Do you remember when the Boston Red Sox were supposed to win 150 games? The New York Yankees were supposed to struggle through a long season. Maybe we could hold off the Tampa Bay Rays for 2nd in the AL East. The wildcard was supposed to go to a team like the Minnesota Twins or Texas Rangers. I remember that, and I remember it well. How could a team with Bartolo Colon and Freddy Garcia in the rotation all season win close to 100 games? Who knows, and who cares, how it happened. With our 4-2 win today over the Rays, the Yankees have clinched a slot in October.Today’s win was extra special for a few reasons. It showed the determination and toughness of our 2011 Bronx Bombers. We started Hector Noesi, yeah the guy who wasn’t even an after thought on our pitching staff back in April. He faced off against the Rays stud, James Shields. Price pitched well, but not well enough to hold off the boys in blue. Nunez has a big homer to tie the game in the 8th, then a few at bats later, the best current Yankee, Robinson Cano blasts a clutch 2 run double to the gap. We take it home 4-2 and punch our tickets to October. It’s been a great year and hopefully we still have a good number of wins left in our pocket.
